The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Mary Lee Wilson-Rogers on December 7, 1933in Lee Bayou, Louisiana when she was born to Seiferth W. Wilson, Sr. and Martha Wellington. The oldest of three children, she had two brothers, Seiferth W. Jr. and EJ Herrell. A happy child, she loved jumping rope and playing jacks. "Double dutch" washer favorite. Educated in the public school system, Mary attended St. Joseph High School in St. Joseph, LA.Mary was the loving mother of Wilma Jean, Edna Marie, John Richard, Diana, Michael Sr., Catherine,Richard Jr., and Shekeitha. Her life was also blessed with a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. They lovingly called her Grandma or Granny and she found joy and great pride in all of them.A woman of deep faith in God, Mary was a member of Park Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church in Denver, Colorado for many years. She had previously served as a Deaconess in Kansas City at the Beacon Light Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was employed with the Superior Novelty Toy Company for many years where she made stuffed animals. She was known for dedication,hard work and excellence in her job.Mary enjoyed family, friends, fishing, gardening, cooking and eating out. Her best friends were Irma Rogers-Henderson and Sis. Ida Lewis, both of Kansas City, MO. They remember her as a true friend. "Whenever you needed her she was always there, just like the sister we never had." Mary's favorite colors were purple and red and she most enjoyed gospel music and old spirituals. She was often heard to pray, "Lord, give me strength and keep my family safe." She was a strong fighter who never gave up. Mary was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Mary Lee Rogers on Good Friday, April 18,2014 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Wilma Jean; sons, John Richard and Michael Sr. and grandson, Jonathan. Those left to cherish her memory include her children,Edna Jones, Diana Hill, Catherine Rogers, Richard Rogers, Jr. and Shekeitha Wilson; twenty-two grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
