Obituary of James Wayne Riley

The sun rose on the life of Mr. James Wayne Riley, Sr. on January 10, 1950 in Denver, Colorado when he was born to Willis Riley and Evie Anita Riley. One of six children he had three brothers, Floyd, Donald and Ronald and two sisters, Barbara and Alice. James was a very outgoing child and enjoyed other people. James received his formal education in the public school system. He graduated from North High School in Denver. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1969. He was stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. James was given an honorable discharge at the end of his active duty from the Army and a grateful nation. James was the father of four children, Alice, James Jr., Barbara and Joseph. He was also blessed with grandchildren, Bridget, Jessica, Marcus, Rose, Candie, Damar, Ashley, Brandi, Sandi, Felicia, Dontae, Robert and Ciera and 18 great grandchldren. They called him "Granddad" and loved him dearly. "He was a wonderful grandfather and very smart." James was employed at Denver International Airport in the position of a driver. In his free time, he most enjoyed family, friends, and gambling. His best friend, Claude Herder will miss James for his friendship and sharp sense of humor. "He was a really funny guy." His favorite color was gray and his favorite recording artist was Prince. The sun set on the life of Mr. James Wayne Riley, Sr. on May 2, 2014 when he passed into eternal rest. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carla Riley of Aurora; sons, James Jr. and Joseph Riley; daughters, Alice and Barbara Riley, all of Denver, CO; brother, Floyd Riley of Denver, CO; thirteen grand- children, eighteen great grandchildren; mother of his children, Geraldine Romero and a host of other relatives and friends.
