Obituary of Elnora Williams

Please share a memory of Elnora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Elnora Williams on September 16, 1932 in Minden, Louisiana when she was born to Mack and Angeline Combs. The fifth of twelve children, she had five brothers, Mack, Willie Drew, Willie Ivory, Lee Odis and John Wesley and five sisters, Enora, Ella, Cleota, Lue Annie and Rosie Lee. As a child, she spent most of her time taking care of her siblings. She loved singing in the church choir. On January 12, 1955, Elnora was united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Jeff Williams in Los Angeles, California. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with many fond memories. Their love was blessed with four beautiful children, Linda, Donald, James and Mary Ann. Elnora was a devoted wife and loving mother. In later years, her grandchildren, James Carl, Leroy, Justin, Nicole and Donald and seven great grandchildren were an added source of joy and pride in Elnora's life. They called her "Grandma" and loved her cooking! A woman of faith, Elnora was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado for over twenty years. She was employed with Child Opportunity in the position of a cook. "She was an awesome cook who would make sure everyone was fed; parents, children, teachers and anyone else." In her free time, Elnora enjoyed family, friends, fishing and gardening. Her best friends were Geneva Betts, Nita Parrish and the late Eva Mae Cowans who very much appreciated her kindness and laughter. She often remarked, "God made this body and he knows all about it." Elnora was the most caring and loving woman you could ever meet. She would give you the shirt off her back and had a beautiful smile that could light up an entire room. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. To know Elnora was truly to love her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Elnora Williams on May 15, 2014 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents, children, Linda, Donald and MaryAnn; two grandchildren and five siblings. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jefferson Williams of Denver, CO; son, James (Alice) Williams of Aurora, CO; brothers, Willie "James" Combs of Los Angeles, CA, John (Brenda) Combs of Centennial, CO and Bishop Al (Martenia) Combs of Aurora, CO; sisters, Cleota Williams of Los Angeles, CA, Lue Annie Andrews of Houston, TX and Rosie (Calvin) Thomas of Duncanville, TX; 3 grand- children; 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Rest in peace...Mrs. Elnora
