Obituary of John Austin
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. John Austin, Sr. on July 15, 1933 in Little Rock, Arkansas when he was born to Katherine Austin. The second of four children, John grew up with his one brother, Robert Lee. He loved to go fishing and he was always working on cars, a passion he continued throughout his life. On July 15, 1956, John was united in marriage with Shirley Ann Banks. The couple exchanged their vows in front of a Justice of the Peace in Littleton, Colorado. John's happiest memories of their marriage was of raising their seven children; Patricia, John Jr., Michelle, Diedre, Kim, Lisa and Darrell. "In his ailing age, he always wanted his independence to care for himself." A loving and devoted father, he instilled in his children and grandchildren to always tare care of business. His grandchildren, Lamont, Curtis, Lydale, Alvis Jr., Keishawn, Buddy Jr., Terrell, Billy, Brandell, Jacoby, Michael, Quincy, Quniesa, Ounida, Tamika, Kenny, Donta, Jessica, Trinea, Nick, John III and Kaloni remember "Grandpa" always teaching them to be strong and how to work on cars. They loved him dearly as he did them. An excellent mechanic, John supported his family with his own mechanic business. He was known for hard work, honesty and loved by his customers. In his free time, he enjoyed family, friends and working on cars. His favorite color was blue and he really liked blues music. One of his most used expressions was "Don't worry about me". His love, kindness, caring for his family, and strength of character will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have shared a part of John's life. To know him was to love him. "Our father, John Austin, Sr. has a full bloom tree and it is still growing in John Jr. We love you, Daddy." The sun set on the life of Mr. John Austin, Sr. on May 27, 2014 when he passed into eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his mother, and grandson, Lamont. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, John Austin, Jr. of Brighton, CO and Darrell Austin of Denver, CO; daughters, Patricia (Alvis) Wiley, Michelle (Eugene) Lawrence, Diedre Anderson, Kim (Joe Algee) Austin, all of Denver, CO and Lisa Austin of Aurora, CO; brother, Robert Lee Austin of Milwaukee, WI; sixteen grand-children; thirty- one great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
