Obituary of Kirk Douglas Northup

Please share a memory of Kirk to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Kirk Douglas Northup on January 10, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan when he was born to Henry and Jessie Northrup. The second of five children, Kirk had four brothers, Gregory, Henry, Brooks and Craig. A happy child, Kirk was always joking and smiling. He loved to play football and listen to old songs. Educated in the public school system, Kirk graduated from Kettering High School in Detroit. In 2001, Kirk was united in marriage with Tonya Dudley whom he had met in Aurora, Colorado. The couple exchanged their vows in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the loving father of Kurtis, Derron, Kirk and Douglas. Kirk was a man of faith who was a member of Christ Temple for many years. He was baptized at an early age and sang in the choir. By profession, Kirk was a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) employed with Chandler Haven Nursing Home. He had also worked at Cherry Creek Nursing Home and Manor Care Nursing Home. He was known for dependability and hard work. In his free time, he enjoyed family, friends, watching football, listening and singing old songs. His special friend, Melody and all of his friends will always remember his loving and wonderful personality. Two of his favorite quotes were, "Phew, phew, shoot me. I was desperate" and "Stick a fork in me, I'm done". His love, joy in life and beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have shared a part of Kirk's life. "Bubble, I love you so much my heart is heavy. I would never have thought you would leave me this soon. I thank God for the years we had together, but God knows best. He never makes a mistake. It's hard to accept that I won't see you come through that door and calling me Ma. It hurts so bad. You will always be in my heart and never forgotten. Rest in peace. Bubble, love you always, Ma The sun set on the life of Mr. Kirk Douglas Northup on May 28, 2014 when the Lord called him home to eternal rest.
