Obituary of Buford Tubbs

The sun rose on the life of Mr. Buford Tubbs, Sr. on February 16, 1936 in Meeker, Oklahoma when he was born to Jeff Tubbs and Laura Parker- Tubbs. The seventh of fourteen children, he had four brothers, Floyd, Jeff, Maurice and Don and eight sisters, Edna, Stella, Eva, Leona, Betty, Doretha, Marva and Wanda. Educated in the public school system, he graduated from Meeker High School in Meeker. On April 28, 1959, Buford was united in marriage with Brenatta Daily in Denver, Colorado. To this union were born two children, Patricia and Buford, Jr. "Fella". Buford was a loving and devoted husband and father. "He loved his family." A man of faith, Buford was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Meeker, OK. By profession, he was an assembly worker employed with Coca-Cola for over 47 years, until his retirement. In his free time, Buford enjoyed family, friends, watching football and telling jokes. His friends remember his friendly personality and sense of humor. He was often heard to say, "Same thing that makes you laugh, will make you cry." Buford's favorite color was burgundy and he liked all types of music. His ability to get along with others, his joking and his love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have shared a part of Buford's life. To know him was to love him. The sun set on the life of Mr. Buford Tubbs, Sr. on August 31, 2014 when the Lord called him home to eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, brothers and sister, Leona. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Buford (Bobbie) Tubbs, Jr. of Denver, CO; sisters, Eva Gentry, Edna Turner, Betty Fisher, Doretha Tubbs, Marva Thomas, Wanda Tubbs, all of Oklahoma City, OK and Stella Tubbs of Roswell, NM; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
