Obituary of Marian Cassandra Linzy

The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Marian Cassandra Linzy on November 7, 1962 in Highland, Illinois when she was born to Thomas Mitchell and Willa Mae McMurray. The eighth of nine children, she had two brothers, Thomas H. and William and six sisters, Brenda, Priscilla, Valerie, Corlis, Jessie and Jacqueline. An outspoken child, she loved riding bikes, playing outside and walking to school. Educated in the public school system, she graduated from Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, IL. Marian was the loving and devoted mother of one beautiful daughter, Shante. In later years, her grandchild, Tyree added much joy and pride to her life. His favorite memory of "Gram" was, "On New Year's me and Grammy had a blast and it was only the two of us. There was music playing, also bbq on the grill and we were the only house on the block partying!" A woman of faith, Marian was a member of Prince of Peace Church of God in Christ for the past five years. She was an Accounting/Customer Service Specialist by profession. Marian was employed with Convergy's in Denver in the Customer Service Department for eight years. She had previously worked for the Denver Post Newspaper. She was known for hard work and dedication to her job. In her free time, Marian enjoyed family friends and just life in general! Her best friends, Beverly Ann White, Cassandra Alford and many more loved her sense of humor and laughter. "She was so full of life!" Her favorite color was blue and she most liked funk music. Her magnetic,caring, sincere and loyal personality and her love will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to share a part of this strong and lovely lady's life. To know Marian was to love her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Marian Cassandra Linzy on September 19, 2014 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, William and sister, Valerie. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Shante Haroun of Aurora, CO; brother, Thomas (Cat) Mitchell, Jr. of Edwardsville, IL; sisters, Brenda (Andrew) Moore of Aurora, CO, Priscilla (Michael) Holliday of Alton, IL, Corlis Brown, Jessie Douglas and Jackie Mitchell, all of Glen Carbon, IL; grandson, Tyree Mitchell Tassian of Aurora, CO; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
