Obituary of Marian Loretta Ericson

Please share a memory of Marian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Marian Loretta Ericson on April 6, 1931 in Michigan City, Indiana when she was born to Irvin Ericson and Wanda (Tuszynski) Ericson. The second of five children, she had three brothers, Donald, David and Roger and one sister, Jane. As a child, Marian was very smart. A favorite memory of her childhood were the upper Michigan family cabin, playing cards with her family and fishing. Educated in the parochial school system, she graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Michigan City. She belonged to the "Rosary of Sodality" of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Michigan City. In 1963, Marian was united in marriage with Walter Sanders whom she met in Colorado Springs while stationed there. She was a loving and devoted wife. The couple were married for fifty-one years. No children were born to this union. Marian was employed with "One Stop", a distribution company for pre-recorded music of the 1980's and 1990's. She held the position of Accountant and worked there until retirement. "She was responsible for several of the day to day activities of the business." Marian was known for hard work, dedication and being pleasant to work with. Marian loved to read and enjoyed watching baseball games, playing cards and watching television. She often played cards with the neighbors and would have them over to her home for card games. The Chicago Cubs were her favorite baseball team and she liked the Denver Broncos. She also enjoyed speaking to her family and friends often and chatting through email while sending them jokes. She was a very friendly neighbor and always lent a helping hand. She was close and long time friends with Evone and Lavone, since 1968. "I supported her by taking her annually to renew her DL. She enjoyed my kids and we were very close." She loved ginger sweet potato pie and she made it best! Her favorite colors were lavender and purple. Her favorite recording= artists were Barbara Mandrell and Dolly Parton. She loved her pet, Heidi the Hot Dog. She was an active member of Silver Sneakers at Hiawatha Davis, Jr. recreation center. Her kindness, laughter, listening ear and empathy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Marian Loretta Ericson on October 14, 2014. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Walter "Peak" Sanders of Denver, CO; brother, David Ericson of Struthers, OH; niece, Lynda Ericson; nephew, Brian Ericson, both of Michigan City, IN; close friends, Evone Murray, Lavone Lynn Curry and Alischa Robb and family; and a host of other nieces, other nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends.
