Obituary of Regina Raynette Ragsdale
Please share a memory of Regina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Regina Ragsdale was granted her angel wings on October 9, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. Regina was born on February 25, 1962 in Goldsboro, North Carolina and was the second of three girls born to the late Robert and Patricia Jean Ragsdale. Throughout her life, Regina was a woman on the move dividing her time mostly between California and Colorado Springs, CO, but finally settling down in 2010 in Dallas, TX with her daughter Natasia. In her younger years, while attending Bret Harte Jr. High School, in Los Angeles, CA, she developed a reputation for athleticism. Her ability and prowess lead to her winning a medal for the Los Angeles city-wide Pepsi Hot Shot contest and also granted her a personal photo opportunity with the sponsor, Sugar Ray Robinson. During her high school years in Colorado Springs, CO, she attended Widefield High School and after, she elected to further her education at Pikes Peak Community where she completed coursework in the area of psychology. She was also actively involved with youth in her community. While in Oakland, CA from 1994 - 1998, she volunteered and mentored alongside her brother Keith (Muntu) with the Simba, Inc. organization which focused on inner city African-American boys in their transition to men. In Colorado Springs, she turned her love for basketball into an opportunity to work as a basketball coach for the Southeast Colorado YMCA and was known as an avid L.A. Lakers fan. But her true devotion in life was to her children and her faith. A proud and dedicated mother, her union to Terrance Washington Sr. brought forth four beautiful children: Keuan, Tynesha, Natasia, and Terrance Jr. (Rajon). As a Christian Queen, Regina also received Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized. She loved the Lord with all her heart, mind and soul; often attending multiple services each week along with her children. She was a caring and compassionate woman who had the ability to make those around her laugh. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and ministering them. Her kind and gentle spirit touched everyone she met. Her two granddaughters Keana and Kamya brought joy to her life and meant the world to her. Each day she spent with them was full of peace and happiness. Although Regina's earthly presence is here no more, we know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We give praise and thank God for the 52 years that He allowed Regina to touch the lives of so many. Regina is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Patricia Jean Ragsdale; two sons Keuan and Terrance (Rajon) Jr.; her infant daughter, Tynesha; and sister, Rolandra Ragsdale. She leaves to cherish her living legacy her beloved daughter, Natasia Ragsdale (Kyle Hill) of Dallas, TX; grandmother, Margarette Margraves of Colorado Springs, CO; step-mother, Evelyn Ragsdale of Aurora, CO; sisters, Rochelle Ragsdale of Colorado Springs, CO; Rosalin (Quentin Sr.) Hildreth of Aurora, CO, Consuelo Franklin of Houston, TX; brothers, Lamont (Lynn) Smith of Sacramento, CA, and Keith (Muntu Mbonisi) Ragsdale (Katrina) of Pittsburg, California; daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Keuan) Ragsdale; granddaughters: Keana, Kamya; nieces, Nikatia, LaShaudra, Jazmin, Philicia, Tiara, Patricia, Jacqui, Kelaiah, and Phoenix; nephews, Quentin II, Keimont, Monte, Jayden, Damonte, Khalif, Reign, Michael and a host of cousins and other loving relatives and many dear friends.
When it was all said and done she just wanted to hear the Lord say "Well done"
