Obituary of Lawrence Ramsey

The sun rose on the life of Mr. Lawrence J. "Larry" Ramsey on July 2, 1950 in Walhalla, South Carolina when he was born to Willie Ramsey and Lucy Blair Ramsey. The youngest of seven children, Larry had three brothers, Boliver, Robert and John and three sisters, Jean, Ann and Rebecca. An active, mischievous child, Larry spent much of his childhood "in trouble". He was very smart and did well in school. Educated in the Christian school system, he attended New Birth Pre Academy and graduated from Newburgh Academy in Newburgh, New York. He continued his education, attending classes for one year at St. Lukes Hospital in New York. Larry was united in marriage with Judy Garcia in New York. To this union were born four children, Rebecca, Ricco, Kelley and Lawrence, Jr. In later years, he was additionally blessed with grandchildren who called him "Grandpa Larry". A man of faith, Larry was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church for the past twelve years. He was employed with Guitar, Guitar. In his free time he enjoyed playing and listening to music, walking, watching TV, reading the bible and spending time with family and friends. His friends loved his sense of humor. He liked to be called "The Fingers'. Larry had a gift for making people laugh. He could lighten your day no matter what. He was loved by everyone that he met and he will be deeply missed. The sun set on the life of Mr. Lawrence J. "Larry" Ramsey on January 31, 2015 when the Lord called him home to eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Ricco Ramsey and Lawrence Ramsey, Jr.; daughters, Rebecca Ramsey and Kelley Ramsey; brothers, Robert "Bobby" (Dorothy) Ramsey of Charlotte, NC and Robert (Cystine) Ramsey of Newburgh, NY; sisters, Rebecca (Clifford) Taylor of Denver, CO and Willie Jean Brown of Aurora, CO; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
