Please share a memory of Melva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
God in his infinite wisdom called home an angel, Mrs. Melva Denise Harris, from this earthly home on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 4:49 A.M. Melva (also known as Dee, Deeda or "Big Momma" to her grand-babies) was born September 12, 1953 in Denver, CO. She had two extremely proud parents: Essie D. (Miller) Robertson and William H. Robertson, Jr. She attended Barrett Elementary School in Denver, CO and graduated high school via a secretarial program at Eagle High in Urbana, IL. Later in life, she continued her education by pursuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Denver, Women's College. At the age of 18, Melva started her thirty year career in downtown Denver at Mountain Bell (Ma Bell), which became Qwest Communications and is known today as CenturyLink. During her time there, she met her future husband Connie on a break when he approached her and asked, "You waiting on me?" and she replied, "I could be." She was highly respected and accomplished leading the firm in management positions for many years before retiring in 2006. Being a hardworking, career professional she then took a position as an Office Manager for Royal Alliance in Englewood, CO where she stayed until the office, owned by AIG experienced a reduction in staff. The highlights of her life was the birth of her "favorite son, Eric" in 1979 and her "favorite daughter, Anisa" in 1993 and eventually her grandchildren. Melva was known for her sensitive and kind spirit, generous heart and her ability to make every person she met feel extra special. She was beautiful inside and out and was known for her gorgeous, mega-watt smile. She was always quick to help someone in need and was often the first to remember and acknowledge a birthday, anniversary or other important event. She loved to laugh, appreciated family bonds, was very fond of children and was a tremendous light in our family. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 23 years, Connie R. Harris; two loving children, a son Eric S. Young and daughter Anisa R. Harris; her mother, Essie Dell Robertson; two brothers, her twin Melvin D. Robertson and George R. Robertson; her sister, Tanya J. Robertson (C. Christopher Grant); and three grandchildren Imani King, Malakhi Young and Eric Young, Jr.; and a host of family and friends.
