Lovie Jewell Owens was born on July 12, 1935 to John Aaron Ward and Vallene Rayford in Bryan, Texas. Lovie had five siblings, four of which have preceded her in passing: James Aaron Ward, Johnnie Mae Ward, Laura Jean Small and Robert Joe Ward. She attended Kemp High School in Bryan, Texas where she was nominated Senior Prom Queen. She later united in marriage to Roosevelt Owens. In this union she had four loving children. She was a trained and practicing barber in Houston, Texas for several years. After dissolution of her marriage, Lovie moved to Denver, Colorado in 1965. She worked in the healthcare Industry at St. Joseph Hospital with over 24 years of service. After retirement, Lovie started a Daycare Center from her home. She not only cared for the children but she built loving and lasting relationships that continued to grow with them through their adulthood. Her biggest passion was her family. Lovie had such a tender soul that was complemented by countless acts of giving. Lovie was known for her candor and was outspoken with a quick wit. She never hesitated to share her wisdom by expressing her strong opinions and giving informative advice to both her children, extended family and friends. One of her many sayings was; "You Reap What You Sow". Lovie had the reputation of being an impeccable dresser who took pride in her appearance. She was always dressed to the "T". She leaves to cherish her memories, her four loving children: Only son Darryl Wayne Owens, daughter in-law Menlo Owens, adored daughters: Janice Lanelle Owens, Sonia Rena Owens, all from Denver Colorado and Vickie Dianne Owens-Butler and son-in-law Wilvor Butler of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister Dellene Farmer, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grand children, 4 great, great grandchildren, a host of niece's and nephews and devoted relatives and friends.
