I was a scared kid going into my first year of high school and we went to Basketball camp at Mesa State in Grand Junction. They ended the last day with a Dunk Contest. I left that camp convinced Akil was superhuman. He owned that contest and that camp as a whole. And being a kid trying to find where I fit in, I knew that day I was gonna be just like him. His Curl was the wettest (LOL) he dunked on anybody and he owned every room he walked into. I didn't have any money and I said to myself I would buy these Black Nike's Akil wore once I had the money... And I'm not kidding, 20 years later I saw them at a shop and finally got me some Air Akil's! I am so sorry to hear about his passing, peace and prayers to his family and friends.
