Obituary of Marsha McKereghan
Please share a memory of Marsha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Ms. Marsha Ann McKereghan on March 7, 1954 in Denver, Colorado when she was born to Joel and Una W. Polk, Jr. The oldest of two children, Marsha had one brother, Joel. A happy child, she was always very enthusiastic about learning, very well mannered and enjoyed playing. She enjoyed making mud pies while only getting her fingertips dirty and always loved preparing for Santa Claus at Christmas. Marsha graduated from Kent School for Girls. She continued her education at Nebraska Wesley while pledging for Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority followed by earning a Master's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. On March 17, 1982, Marsha was united in marriage with Cleveland Holmes whom she met at graduate school at the University of Southern Mississippi. The couple enjoyed college day clubs, parties, going to church and eating hogs head soup. To this union was born one beautiful daughter, Amber who was their delight. Marsha was later united in marriage with Michael P. McKereghan. They exchanged their vows at Scott United Methodist Church in Denver. They honeymooned in Michigan, made lots of mountain trips and loved eating Chinese food. To this union was born another beautiful daughter, Kirsten. The girls both recall Christmas time and singing Christmas carols. In later years, Marsha's grandchildren, Joshua, Jade and J'Lon remember "Grandma" playing board games, creating puzzles, going to the zoo and reading books at the library. They loved her dearly as she did them. A woman of strong faith, Marsha was a member of Scott United Methodist Church in Denver. She served the Lord and her church as an Inspirational Bible Study Leader. Marsha was employed for many years with Denver Public Schools in the position of a teacher/librarian. She worked for over five years with the State of Colorado in the position of "Collector III". She was known by her co-workers to be dependable and fun, while loving to debate such topics as Donald Trump. Marsha loved spending quality time with family and friends. Her best friend was Sandra Kay Brooks. Her favorite color was pink and she most enjoyed gospel and classical music. "Marsha is remembered for her strong faith in the Lord that she held right up to taking her last breath." She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. To know Marsha was to love her. The sun set on the life of Ms. Marsha Ann McKereghan on December 27, 2015 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest.
