Gerard B. Schmit 62 of Aurora, Colorado formerly of Cottage Grove, Minnesota died peacefully on March 12, 2016 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by dad Marcel. Survived by mom Mildred; siblings Joe (Patty), Dan, Michelle (Steve) Borowicz, Mary (Mike) Langevin, Ann (Bob) Meehl. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews; other relatives and friends; furry companions Louie, Oscar & Meyer. Gerard was born the oldest of six children to Marcel & Mildred ( Kosse) Schmit in LeMars, Iowa on October 9, 1953. A job opportunity took him to Aurora over 30 years ago. He loved living in the mountains and sharing that love with his family when they came to visit. Gerard dedicated his spare time to help others in any way he could. He will be missed deeply by many.
