Obituary of Lena Mae Johnson

Lena Mae Johnson, daughter of Julius and Rachel Samuel entered this world on February 27, 1936 in the city of Darlington, South Carolina. Lena was the oldest of six sisters and blazed the trail with fun and optimism. She departed this world on April 18, 2016. After attending Germantown High School in Philadel-phia, Pennsylvania, she met and fell in love with Kelsey Knight. They gave birth to their baby girl, Kismet on June 22, 1956. Lena later married Jerome Johnson on July 25, 1964 and had her second daughter, Jessica on October 11, 1965. Her spirit was contagious and her presentation flawless. She set fashion trends that carried through the decades. Lena stayed on the go. She enjoyed shopping and catering to the ones she loved. She explored several different careers however found her the most joy working at St. Mary's Hospital as a CNA in Blue Springs, Missouri. What really mattered to Lena in her life was giving love and compassion to her family. Her warmth eased troubles immediately and her sense of humor kept things light. Her commitment to her loved ones shares a life of its own. Her light shone so bright while she was on this earth and will continue to shine through her spirit. Her legacy will carry on in the hearts of her daughters, Kismet (Earl) Washington and Jessica Carter; her seven grandchildren, Lunka Dinwiddie, Corey Rice, Kenya Rice, William Johnson, Bryson Johnson, Marquise Carter, Jaylen Carter and her four great - grand-children, Katlyn Dinwiddie, Cliff Dinwiddie, DeMario Griffin and Carmelo Griffin. Lena will also live in the hearts of her sisters, Beatrice, Delores, Alma and Arnette. Her sister, Mary preceded her in death.
