Obituary of Paul John Koonce

Paul John Koonce Sr. was born March 3, 1955 To the late Henry and Jose Koonce In Niagara Falls, New York. He was the 3rd of six children to this union. The family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1965 where Paul attended elementary school and eventually graduated from Manual High School in 1973. Paul gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Annunciation Catholic Church. Paul enjoyed his childhood and often played basketball in the neighborhood with his friends. Paul became a Father when he had his first child Nukisha Jackson in 1976. In 1983, Paul married the love of his life; Cathy Armstrong. In Paul and Cathy's union he became the step-father to Lennina and Gyasi Armstrong also in there union three children were born; Paul Jr., Ashley and Asia. Paul's greatest love was his family. He also loved traveling to New Orleans and Sneads, Florida for the annual family reunions. Paul was a humble, Loving, and a hard-working man who provided for his family. He had a warm sense of humor and a loving smile. He was an outstanding entrepreneur. He Co-owned and operated Koonce's Market for several years with his brother, Carl Koonce. He later worked at the airport as a United Airlines skycap for approximately 27 years. Paul will be missed dearly. Paul John Koonce Sr. departed his earthly life on April 6, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Koonce and Step-father Harry Goens. He leaves to cherish in his memory his wife of 38 years, Cathy Koonce, His son, Paul John Koonce Jr ; Three daughters: Nukisha Jackson, Ashley Koonce, and Asia Koonce; one step-son Gyasi Armstrong; one step-daughter Lennina Armstrong, his mother Jose Goens; two brothers Henry Koonce and Carl (Phazaria) Koonce; three sisters, Lorraine Koonce, Yvonne Koonce, and Virginia Koonce; Eight grandchildren, Donte Green, Deshawn Green, Dejonnae Green, Darontay Jackson, Davarius Sutton, Devin Sutton, Daquan Sutton, and Maceo Koonce; one great grandchild, Baby Marie Green, and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He is... Father ...He is the shine in a little girl's eyes the icon of a son in the mirror a husband to his wife a provider and a leader the endearing traits of a real man personified in how He lives ...He is the strength of the family unit the shelter in a raging storm a patriarch to the ancestral tree his seed produces legacies to carry on his dynasty ...He is stability in the midst of adversity He rules with a gentle hand teaches his daughter's how to be loved to accept nothing less than a true man HE instills pride into his son's to be the best Men they can be ...He is a consonant pillar of masculinity without a heavy hand as proof if you had to measure A Man in all He say or do it is in the path He chooses to follow it is the fruit of his wealthy spirit that makes him so unique it is He... a Husband a Father a hero Unsung. - unknown WE LOVE YOU DAD
