FROM THE AURORA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Pastor Milton Thomas' accomplishments were immense and benevolent in the Aurora community. But it must also be noted that he did so much assisting the Aurora Police Department’s (APD) efforts to serve the community as well. Each year he was a significant contributor to the coordination of the Aurora Police Department’s “Shop With A Cop” events. These events provided back to school supplies and winter holiday gifts for thousands of Aurora children over the years. The department’s School Resource Officer (SRO) program has specifically benefited from Pastor Thomas’ contributions and collaborations helping these SROs serve the city's youth. He helped the SRO program and other APD special units in coordinating resources for youth and families to such an extent that in some cases, he actually saved lives.
I observed Pastor Thomas arrange to get food to families that had virtually nothing in their homes – I mean NOTHING! These were households that had exhausted so many other alternatives. Some of these families were so full of pride attempting to avoid public assistance and the pastor respected that. So, he helped them to keep their dignity while getting them the assistance they needed to get to their next triumph with their self-respect intact. I saw him help people find jobs; get people housing; obtain needed clothing furniture; get kids into school after being truant for weeks and much more. I also so proudly observed him be a voice for the “voiceless” during so many public and private forums.
Pastor Thomas was a tirelessly, selfless member of the metropolitan Ministry Alliance. Through his work with the Alliance, he helped ensure that City of Aurora's youth and families were ALWAYS considered in metropolitan planning. More specifically he was a vanguard in the African-American community as a beacon of strong support and effective advocacy, making sure, as best he could, that fewer people "fell through the societal cracks." He was always mindful of how the “system” could force people of color into desperate circumstances and worked so hard to overcome those “institutionalized” barriers. Pastor Thomas did so many unknown gracious things for people that no "accountant" anywhere could accurately measure them.
Pastor Thomas volunteered so much of his time to so many causes in our city. This was a man that I believe rarely if ever said NO to anyone. He joined my wife and me in some of our efforts with the Aurora Boys & Girls Club doing so without hesitation. For years he assisted us with getting school supplies and holiday gifts to deserving boys and girls at the “Club” even after his involvements with “Shop with A Cop” were completed. He helped me and others with summer projects at the “Club” in such a fashion that the “Club’s” funding was spared additional expenditures. I will never forget the legacy of support he created, neither will so many young people at the "Club."
If you did not know Pastor Thomas, you missed an opportunity to be involved with someone special. As an employee and resident of the City of Aurora, I so admired his dedication to our city. As someone who over the years got to know him more with each endeavor, I found him becoming more than a collaborator but a welcomed acquaintance. In the last few years, I began to consider him a friend and my champion.
Milton you will forever be my hero! REST IN POWER, BRAH!

To Marguerite & Pastor Milton Thomas, Sr., children, grand-children, and all family members.
I wish I had the words to express the deep sense of loss and hurt felt when I learned of Pastor Thomas’s passing on Easter Sunday. Pastor Thomas was my friend. Not only was he a community leader, visionary, colleague, activist, hard worker, organizer, communicator, and all around good, kind, considerate and generous person, but most importantly he was a Man of God. He loved people and was committed to the calling that the Lord had placed on his life. He truly fulfilled that promise and did it with love and devotion.
Pastor Thomas’s unyielding and infinite desire to do God’s work with kindness and love truly went above and beyond all expectations. He was truly one of a kind and it is our prayer that the sorrow you feel with his departure, will one day be comforted by knowing that your patriarch truly was loved and admired by people of all ethnicities, political affiliations and socio-economic status. His unique style and ability to capture the hearts of many made him a success. He would not take no for an answer. For his next generation, the gene you inherited will undoubtedly propel you to make a positive difference as he did.
On a personal note, I will miss the many phone calls I received from him saying we have a meeting for Shop with a Cop, or it’s time for the toy pick-up from the hospital, or we need to meet with the City about his dream for the Majestic Village Low Income Housing project and the Thomas Ministries Community Center of Aurora. If those were not enough, he would say it is time to pick-up and distribute the 800 turkeys and all the sides dishes for the Thomas Ministry Thanksgiving dinners. In additions there were calls regarding getting backpacks, bicycles, coats, toys, shoes, snacks, and clothing that needed to be distributed. And because Pastor Thomas did not embrace texting and emailing, I will miss him saying at these events and meetings that, “Malissa is my texter and my email.” It was a privilege to be so and I welcomed seeing Pastor Thomas at every opportunity to assist him. He was my friend!
To the Thomas family, we know your loved one’s departure will leave a huge void in your lives and hearts, as it has for many of us. It is our prayer however that you can take comfort in knowing that Pastor Thomas was loved, and he made a positive difference in the many lives he touched here on earth. May God’s grace, mercy and love strengthen each of you now and forever and please know our sincere thoughts and prayers are with you.
Faithfully submitted,

Pastor Milton Thomas worked tirelessly for our community. He made sure no one went hungry during the holidays. He helped people get jobs, he arranged for kids to get toys every Christmas. He did nothing out of selfish ambition, but he worked and served so that God would get the glory. He even was responsible for opening some doors for our church. Pastor Thomas was an awesome friend and brother, and will be greatly missed. We loved him, but God loved him best. We are in prayer for Sis. Thomas, and the entire family.
Blessing and Peace

Pastor Thomas... I dont know where to begin.
It took us a little while because we cant get over the fact that you are gone.
Your laugh, your jokes, your caring heart will truly be missed. You walked with purpose and you led with vigor. We love you.
If not for you I would have never found my way back to God. In fact I am looking at the armour you gave us a few years back. I keep it on my mantle to remind us to alway wear our helmet to protect our mind, our vest to protect our heart, and to carry our sword to guard ourselves from attack.
I know everything has its purpose and so I will continue to ask the lord to order our steps. Until we meet again The Harris family loves you and Sister T.

We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of the beloved Rev. Milton Thomas of Thomas Ministries. His ministry was dedicated to community outreach, and among many things he hosted a huge annual feast on Thanksgiving for those without shelter and who are in need. Our youth organization (Rev Up All Stars) was honored and so grateful to be a part of his ministry for multiple years by assisting as volunteers to feed many underprivileged individuals in our community. This is a huge loss for us all. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rev. Thomas's family, friends, church family, and all affected by his passing. May you find rest in Paradise! With Love - St.Marks & Eriqueca Sanders, Leta Holden, Kathy Springer, Nicki Furuiye, Jackie Allen and the entire Rev Up organization.
