Obituary of Pierre Andre Amos
Please share a memory of Pierre to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Pierre Andre Amos on March 26, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois when he was born, the only child of proud parents, DeOtris Amos and Fannie White. A loving child, Pierre always enjoyed time with his extended family. "He loved being with his cousins, aunts and uncles especially after his mother died when he was only six years old." A Vietnam veteran, Pierre proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany. He was awarded a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. Having completed his active duty with honor and distinction, he was given an Honorable Discharge from the government and a grateful nation. In 1973, Pierre was united in marriage with Judy Jones in Denver, Colorado. To this union was born one child, Demika. Additionally, he became the stepfather of Darcel and Darnell. The marriage was later dissolved. In 1990, he was united in marriage with Rosalind Lewis. He was a loving father and in later years, a devoted grandfather. His grandchildren, Davion, DaJeon, Drevan, Dreion, DeAnthony, DeAyriah, Lewis, Darnell, Darnella, Courtney and great grandchild, Drake were a special source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him "PawPaw" and enjoyed him as much as he did them.
A man of faith, Pierre was a minister in the Church of God in Christ. Pierre was a man of many talents. He was an excellent boxer, artist and was an absolute computer whiz. His favorite things were family, friends, music, life in general and being "the ladies man". His favorite color was black and his favorite musical group was the Commodores. He was often heard to say, "Check this here" about almost anything. Pierre was very gifted and would go out of his way to help others. "He always had a smile and a listening ear for anyone who needed it and would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it." To know Pierre was to love him and he will be greatly missed. On September 26, 2013, the sun set on the life of Mr. Pierre Andre Amos when the Lord called him home to eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra Amos of Denver, CO; daughter, Demika (Anthony) Amos of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren; long time companion, Karen Garvin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Rest in peace...Pierre
