The sun rose on the life of Mrs. Loretta Alexander on February 28, 1944 in Denver, Colorado when she was born to Clarence and Earneese Johnson. The third of four children (and the only girl), she had three brothers, Arnold, Clarence and Theodore. A happy child, Loretta was creative, imaginative, a leader and organizer. Educated in the public school system, Loretta graduated from Manual High School. Loretta was the loving mother of one daughter, Armeda Powell. A woman of faith, Loretta was a member of Zion Baptist Church for over fifty years. By profession an administrator, she was employed with AT&T in Denver for over twenty-five years. She was known for dedication and excellence in her job. In her free time, Loretta enjoyed family, friends, writing, working puzzles and homemaking. Loretta's best friends were Jerry Hardiman and Jo Smith. They will best remember her for being a loyal friend. Loretta was known for being witty and insightful. Loretta's love, beautiful smile and loyal friendship will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed to have shared a part of Loretta's life. To know Loretta was to love Loretta. The sun set on the life of Mrs. Loretta Alexander on May 10, 2014 when the Lord called her home to eternal rest. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Armeda Powell of Houston, TX; mother, Earneese Johnson of Oakland, CA, brother, Clarence Johnson of Oakland, CA; long time companion, Elmer McGee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
